Cold start hesitation

Hi.

I am having some problems with my 2.3NG Cabriolet (1992). It has been very reliable car but there are some issues I would like to solve.

When I start the car with the engine cold it seems like a cylinder is on and off, when I touch the throttle it doesn't accelerate like it should (hesitations) and struggles with my ramp garage to access the road. This isn't always the case, some days are worse than others and occasionally it seems normal.

After driving for a while, not to much, it becomes good with only few hesitations if not any.
But I can always ear some backfiring from the exhaust when I take of my foot from the accelerator pedal, so I suppose it is running reach.

Plugs and plug leads are in good condition and guess the temp sensor is new also.

Any ideas?

Thanks
