Should be located on the drivers side right on top of the transmission. Where the trans and engine mate up.

Thanx Evo! Now do you know where I can purchase one? I can't find any place that sells one for my car ( 1988 Audi 90 Quattro) Just replaced the knock sensor thinking it would fix the situation ( the knock sensor in the car was deteriorated) but to no avail. The problem still exists If it starts, it runs well but when you shut it off it won't start up again. It's really driving me nuts!! Very frustrating!!!
