'86 5k CS Turbo - Heater Core

It looks like I have a leak at or around my heater core. When I run the heater I am getting an antifreeze smell and smudge/fog on the windshield - also a slow drop in the reservoir. I can't find details in my Bently manual and am curious about how to access the heater core.

1) How can I get to the heater core?
2) How difficult is it to replace?

Thanks in advance...

Good stuff Tripod. This job no easy one! When I did mine I didn't realize it wasn't necessary to open the Air Condition circuit and that the big connecting pipe on the heater left side could be disappeared into the heater unit.

snax,
Put in a new one a few years back. Should be good for another 30 or so years.

@Tripod
Is that really so, it would remain good for 30 to 50 years?

The next 30

The original heater core lasted about 30 years, so projecting the useful life of a new core into the future..... the car will be a rust bucket but the heater core should be fine in 2040 or so.
