Hi, I have a 88 audi 5000 2.2 turbo that I love dearly but I'm having some trouble figuring out a cold start issue. When the car is cold it needs to crank 7-8 times before firing and bogs slightly for the first 5-10s and then runs normally. When engine is warm it fires without any issues what so ever. I can't tell whether it's recieving too much or too little fuel under cold start but my best guess is it's the cold start valve that is the culprit. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Pull the cold start valve and test it into a coke bottle or eq (Careful with spraying fuel its a fire hazard, pull coil wire and ground or disconnect coil too). The cold start should pulse spray into the bottle during cold crank. If it does not do this trouble shoot problem. Check fuse, power to CS, and warm up regulator. Of course check that the PF is working too on CS crank.

A quick test is starter fluid spray. If the car starts its most likely the CS system. Same procedure to trouble shoot.
