: A6 2.0 TDI SE Fuel Economy

Hi, I got my 2007 57 A6 2 weeks ago and have just finished my first full tank of Diesel.

I got 495 miles from a full tank and the fuel computer said this works out at 42 MPG but when I used a calculator it actually works out at 34 MPG.

This is really poor fuel economy. I have come from a 2.0 TD Passat and I averaged 47mpg and had expected 45mpg from the new car.

Can you tell me what mileage people get from a full tank and what your computer says. I am wondering if there is something really wrong with my car?

Hope you can help.

Unhappy Matt

If you bother to recalculate: My 2006 2.0 TDI Avant uses 0.6-0.7 litres pr. 10 km on average driving in Norway, mainly from 50-80km/h.

Yep, sounds about right to me.
I NOW manage on average to get 530-550miles to the tank, and like you, have discovered the consumption readings on the car are FAR from accurate.

Best run was around 600 miles to the tank, but this was a nice plod up and down the motorway.
Recently discovered the rather large oil consumption habit as well, thought it was an engine fault, until main dealer explained the 'in tolerance' figures.
