Default Timing Belt Miles

I just picked up a 2001 Jetta TDI with a 1.9 TDI Manual transmission. My question is how far can you run a stock timing belt? If I replace it with the newest tecnology belt how long will the replacement go?

Check the owner's manual for timing belt change frequency. The parts are made to that OEM spec, so you can expect to change at that frequency. My 92 Jetta callled for replacement at 60K, but changed at 80K. My 99 Audi A4 on other hand calls for change at 120K, but the belt broke at 85K... Audi picked up the $4,500 repair although it was outside the warranty period. Audi backs up their cars.
