Anyone experience this problem ?? 97- GLX VR-6 Suddenly, the key fails to unlock the ignition switch and start the car. I tried the extra key that has less wear on it, same thing. I think the tumblers in the locking mechanism may be worn to the point where the key cannot unlock the ignition switch. Any thoughts ???? Thanks in advance for your help !!

Yes, that was one of the first things we tried to no avail. Out of complete desperation, I sprayed some WD-40 into the key slot and just like magic, the key was able to turn and the car started !!! The locking tumblers must have been hung-up and the WD-40 was able to free things up. Sometimes you get lucky..... Never often enough !! Thanks for your time !
