The driver door lock will not release - on a Golf IV 5 door.
Having just replaced the electric window mechanism, which entails removing & refirring the door lock, I slid the door closed to assess alignment, and have not been able to open it again since ! The keys makes ratchet turing noises, and from inside I can see the rod moving the lever I can see. The internal & external door pulls are both pulling - but not releasing the catch. I am left wondering how I might ever be able to open the door - any ideas ? Steve |

Problem now fixed.
On replacing the cable from the lock to the door handle, the allignment spring on the lock must have become dislodged, and allowing the cable to be attached in an over extended position. Solution, sacrifice the door handle. pull handle out fully and saw off the cable retention spur, releasing the cable - door then opens. Phew ! |
