Can the front strut dust gaitor be replaced without removing the front strut from the car. Audi 100 2.5 TDI
The sun roof appears to have a mind of its own, opening frequently, then having to have much fiddling with the roof switch to get it to remain closed before locking the car. Any clues??
This car has now topped 220,000 miles, requires no oil between oil changes at 10000 miles and returns 50-55 mpg. what a truck!!

No replies to my query so I got on with it. No problem just take off the top shock mounting, three nuts (don n't forget to mark the position of the mounting plate on the chassis so you don n't change the camber on refitting). You can ten remove the old gaiter and fit the new through the exposed hole.
Good idea to clean road dirt from shock piston rod before fitting new gaiter.
Easy job.
