Default induction kit question

Hi all....great forum you have here, I have a question, we have a 2001(51 plate) A6 2.4 quattro with the auto/tiptronic transmission. I tried a cone filter i had lying around (i didn't have a maf adaptor so managed to get a good seal with some strong duct tape - no air leaks etc, just to try it out) anyway we went to try it out and it was really struggling up hills.....so i want to know why this is and would i be better with a K&N panel filter?

also i have another question, I took apart the remote yesterday and since disconnecting battery and reconneting the fob has stopped working.....its a 3 button one with the lock, unlock, and boot release....Is there a way to re-pair it?

Sounds like you may have killed the MAF or not connected it back up correctly plus the stock unit works best.

You need to reprogram the key and these instructions should do the job.

Quote:
1) Stand next to car
2) Unlock car
3) Close all doors
4) Put a key in the ignition
5) Turn to accessory
6) Put remote 1 in and lock door (leave in door)
7) Allow remote 1 to rock back from the lock position (I think you leave it in this position)
8) Hold unlock button down for 10 seconds
9) Press unlock button once for remote 1
10) Repeat #7 & #8 (don't change the remote in the door)
11) Press unlock button twice for remote 2
12) Repeat again for remote 3 if you have one

it was fine when i put the stock airbox back on....it wasn't stalling or anything it was just not accellerating at all when the accellerator was pushed quite hard down.....would a K&N panel filter do any better?

K&N are regarded as a big No No as the filter is quite oily and tend to coat the MAF then the MAF dies.
