I have recently bought this car and was just wondering what would be the best performance parts to buy to get more torque and acceleration.
Its is quick but not as quick as I thought it would be. When it gets to 30,000 revs it boosts then but thats it. Thanks...

Hi, I'd start with a decent downpipe and exhaust ( but mainly the downpipe) I've got a 2.5" downpipe on mine but the general rule for turbo exhausts is " Bigger the better". You'll find that it's a different animal with that. There is absolutely loads that you can do with the 1.8T, but the one thing that I'd say is, do all your hardware mods (fitting parts) before having the re-map. PM me if you want further pointers

Well I am going to be changing the entire exhausts system from the Cat. I will be making it look similar to the S3 style. I had a big exhaust on my other car and now I prefer to go for performance than noise. I have had prices to have a custom made induction kit fitted. My car is a non turbo model so I can't upgrade the turbo. But i think I will be upgrading the suspension too. Do any of you know of any other things that would increase performance?

A power boost valve should give you a bit more of an initial kick. FSE sell one which gives a spike of fuel when you press the throttle pedal (approx 1.7 times the normal fuel pressure). They're fully adjustable, so will need setting up with gauge when its fitted. You're fuel pressure should be 3 bar (if its the same as the turbo engines) so with the valve on you'll get a burst of about 5 bar before settling back down to 3.
If you buy one off the shelf, they're £60-£100, but Ebay usually have a few used ones on for much less ![]() As for cleaning the engine, don't use a steam cleaner. If you must clean your engine bay, use a de-greaser on a rag. Much safer. |

cheers for that mate. I will have a look for it. If i did fit one of these would it make a difference to the mpg of the car. I am assuming it would because of more fuel being put in.
The cleaning of the engine I would use a rag and degreaser, as my mate had his steam cleaned and it caused problems.

I have just had a look now on a few website's and I can only find one that would suit the A3 1.8 non turbo. The mpg it says should remain the same when cruising at a constant speed. So I am not that bothered by that. Thanks a lot for your help
