Hi I was wondering if I could get some advice. I have a 1999 audi A6 2.8l quattro sedan and it has a rough idle and has a slight problem cranking sometimes. I was told the engine had a good compression check and timing was good. I was also told that 5 out of 10 of these cars do this. I hope someone can give some good advice.

When you say that the car has a rough idle do you mean that the rpm's jump from about 500-1300 rpm because if it does i had the same problem and all it was was just a dirty throttle body and i used some carb cleaner to clean it out. This problem started when i unhooked the battery to fix the headlight switch, so unhooking the battery could've been the start of the problem if you did that.
