I've got an Audi 80 1.9TD that's got a bit of a whining issue. I'm pretty sure it's Turbo related, as it starts about 1800 revs, and rises in synch with the engine note. It's quite audible in the cabin, and from the exhaust, but not so noticeable from the engine bay itself.
I've had all the hoses off, checked for leaks (none), checked the turbo bearings (fine) and cleaned out the wastegate (oily). The whine persists so I'm wondering if it's just a normal thing. However, if anyone can allay my fears I'd be most grateful. Many thanks, Tom |
