despite adding 100 litres of fuel, the fuel guage was reading almost empty. After a a couple of short trips it started reading normally. Any reason for being intermittently faulty?

Hi I had the same problem, it seems to be that the in-tank guage is a little ball that is connected to a rod, now over the years the tank gets dirty and the ball gets stuck. You can fix it by unscrewing the fuelpump screw and spray a bit of Q20 or other oil basedfluids on the slide it must work

Best of luck
