hey everyone, new on the forums... questions about shocks

hey guys, this is my first post..i have a 1996 A4 2.8L and when i bought it, my left rear shock was completely shot... i didnt get both replaced because of shortage of money...i got that replaced a few months back, but now, the right rear needs to be replaced.. im thinking of investing in coil overs when i have the money... any ideas? tnks
