How do you change an A4 Brake light bulb?

I can not figure how to get into the rear light cluster in order to change a blown lamp. Please help... is anyone out there??? Come on guys, if you know please spare a minute to share this info. Audi wanted £22+VAT to change a light bulb and wouldn't tell me how to do it myself. There are no removable panels in the boot like on slightly older models. I have had my hand behind the boot liner (breaking a retaining clip in the process and all I can feel is the wiring loom entering through a rubber grommet into the light cluster. There are a lot of people viewing this forum so other people must be wondering the same. Can someone please help?

It's OK I figured it out myself. There is a screw under a circular cover in the boot lining close to the light cluster. Remove it using an 8mm socket. It can be a little fiddly to remove once it's unscrewed so a pair of long nosed pliers may come in handy. Once removed the entire rear light cluster can be extracted from the exterior of the car and the lamp holder simply unclips. Easy......when you know how. From this day forward the 8mm socket will forever live in the boot of my car !!

Useful info on changing brake light blub for A4, next time I will save myself ££s Have you figured out how to change front indictor blub? If you do, it would be help me to save more ££s.

I was surprised to learn that you had to take it to an Audi garage to change bulbs.

Must be a money making thing, my A4 was only 8 months old when one of the rear lights went.
My nearest Audi garage is 20 miles from me so there was no chance of me taking it there.

Strange how simple it is to do too, easy way to replace the whole cluster!

I've had a look at front lights, that looked a bit more tricky, but when I find how to do it, I'll let you guys know!

TT rear light unit is similar to A4.Remove the luggage compartment cubby hole covers and there are two knurled screws,undo and rotate light unit outwards remove multiplug connector and replce bulbs.

Awesome step-by-step tutorial! I used it along with this one :: a4mods.com :: - The Premiere Audi A4 Modification Guide and Pictures Library to help me change my right brake light.

I have a bit of an issue now though. After changing my light bulb, I made sure to put the light fixture and housing back on the way I found it. But now it doesn't seem to be as SNUG as it should be when I compare to my left taillight. There's a tiny crack between the weather stripping along the top of the housing and the body. I can push the housing in so it’s more snug, but it doesn’t stay. I can actually pull at the housing and make the crack a bit bigger, even with it screwed in.

I’ve tried tons of times taking it off, putting it back on, making sure the weather stripping is not in the way, screwing it in and I still haven’t had any luck. Any tips?

But in case no one has any pointers, is this going to be a problem if I can’t get it snug? I’m worried that it might cause some electrical issues if water were to get in there. To make matters worse, it’s winter here and I don’t know what kind of affect the cold will have.

Please help me out if you can, I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks in advance.
