faulty volume control on audi concert cassette player

I have a 2000 (w reg) a3 with a standard cassette head unit which the volume control does not work correctly,which i am aware is a comman problem.As i can only get reconditioned ones now (which i dont really want to buy as the same problem may occur) i was wondering if the standard single cd head unit had the same problem and if any wiring modifications needed to be done. thanks for any help .

Yeah I also noticed a problem on the volume control of my Audi concert cassette player. So i bought an aftermarket cassette player and replaced the old one...
