Exclamation A3 2 litre fsi regd 53 intermittent power loss

Any ideas what might be causing this??

From PETERBOROUGH to York on friday I had two instances of power loss. one the passenger did not notice and the other caused the car to judder. On the way back on sunday I had four instances. Each became more pronounced than the previous. On the last the car free wheeled for quarter of a mile in the slow lane of the A1 until I managed to pull into a layby. The AA came. Although we could get power back to the wheels it still cut out so I had a recovery home. This morning the car has worked OK on a 5 mile journey into the office. The AA connected its Crypton computer to the car but no faults were detected.

Car mileage is 24k

Thanks for replying. I do not know if the AA chap specifically checked for a coil pack breakdown. He just connecte dhis crypton to the socket in the drivers foot well and said he had no error messages. I will get it checked by my local garage who are not audi delers but very competent local motor engineers. I will let yu know how we get on !!

This is the exact same problem as I am having with mine, I have A4 2.0 FSI on an 03 plate.

I have had it into garages on the diagnosis machine a few times but have booked it into Audi dealers this week to get is diagnosed hopefully get the exact problems.

Does your engine management light come on or the EPC light from time to time?

I have been told it could be down to the throttle body which will be about £350 for the part, also been told that might fix if throttle is cleaned, but this didn't work with mine.

Let you know what Audi say on Wednesday.

John

Hiya Johnaitken

How has your car been?

I said I would reply after putting my car into Audi.

My car went into Audi on Wednesday and they have told me that the air pipes were damaged and to replace these, then put the car onto the diagnosis machine again.

So I have bought the pipes from Audi they were £48 but I have a machanic friend who fixes Audi's so he is going to repair them for me, a lot cheaper than Audi, who wanted £222 labour charge.

Your problems sound identical to mine, I would check the pipes and see if you have any holes in them.

I am hoping this is all that's wrong with mine, I was expecting a long list of things as the car has been running pretty rough.

Default I had exactly same problem

John,

I had a very similar fault on my car (audi a4 2.0 fsi) it turned out to be the NOX sensor. Because of the timing I had to have this done in an audi garage and it cost me £600+. Hope its not this!

Thanks Chris

Is your car running like new again now?? hope it's not the same for my car!!!

Phoned Audi this morning, and they have said to bring it back in on Tuesday for anoth diagnosis test as after having new pipes put on, the car is still not running right.

Do you know why your car was so expensive to put right, was it the part or Audi's labour charge.

I wouldn't be suprised if it comes back with the same fault, as my car is running awful.

Isn't it great to have a sight like this, as the Audi dealers I am dealing with are not all that helpful.

Thanks
John

My car was running like a dream but it is now dead! Parts were expensive but so is the labour (circa £90 per hour!)

You must have been gutted! so have you no longer got the car?

What were the symptoms with your car?

I haven't had my car that long and feel sick as with most people, just haven't got the cash to pay out on fixing the problem and then it to still be running bad.

Have a good friend who is a machanic and specializers in Audi motors, he said that the fsi petrol Audi's are a bad engine, and I should have bought a deisal.

Can't Audi look into your problem after paying out all that cash for nothing to be fixed.

Ta mate

Pretty gutted, been broken since Monday and been sitting in Tonbridge Audi since. No symptoms for the tensioner it just went. The NOX sensor meant I would be driving along and power would jus go but the engine would still be running, if I changed gear I could kick start the engine.

Starting to lose faith in Audi all together, hopefully all will be restored on Monday morning when they ring to say my car will be fixed free of charge and they will be giving me a hire car while I am off the road!
