Thanks for replying Lexter, can imagine the frustration you have with the Audi dealers.
I too think I will be looking at a different car, as Audi dealers have put me right off the Audi as there so called experts and machines can't give you the answers you want, its all just guess work. Mine has gone worse and starts to cut out every 20 mins instead of 40 mins. weird thing is if I stop and turn ignition off for a minute or so the car runs fine again for another 20 mins Been told by Audi to change fuel pump, but then another machanic has said I am wasting my money and that the FSI engine is c@@p Apart from this problem, I absolutley love this car and just wish I could be given an answer to exactly what is wrong with it. I am hoping someone reads this before I get rid of my car and saves the day with some advice that sorts this out. Hope you get your car sorted Lexter, and if you decide to sell your next one is less stressful than this one. |

Replacing my NOX sensor did the trick as far as intermittent power loss was concerned and as described mine got worse the longer it went on.
The cambelt/tensioner failure was unrelated. By the way my car getting new engine today, having clutch done while in there as will only have to pay parts as they will have it apart anyway. It's gonna cost me £3.5k all in, rubbish! My opinion is that the Audi is a very nice car and I would recommend it to anyone BUT only buy the car from new, sell or part exchange the car before you exceed the warranty conditions. If you anyone chooses not to take this advice please at least completely ignore Audi guidelines on servicing and maintenance as they are not worth the paper they are written on. If you own a 2.0fsi engine get the cambelt and tensioner checked when you hit 60k miles or risk losing your engine (and a lot of pennies!) Sorry for sounding so bitter just hate having to spend money especially so soon after Christmas! Chris |

Many thanks to all those who joined in this thread. There does not seem to be a single answer to the problem and hence the conflicting advice or ignorance of Audi dealers when asked for a diagnosis. May be because cars are becoming so much more complicated they mirrror the diagnostic problems of the human body. How many possible diagnoses are there for a pain in the gut for instance. Fortuanetly we have a slow but free NHS to find the answers. Us motorists out of warranty have to foot the bills until the problem is found and put right.
My A3 has not presented the loss of power symptons since the journey from York to Peterborough in January. Maybe it has sorted iself out or the circumstnces of the journey have not been repeatedTime will tell. I will post any further develoments to this thread but in the meantime keep yur fingers crossed.
