Default A6 timing belt & service history

Hi...
New to this forum. Just bought an '02 A6 3.0 (through an import dealer), and wanted to find out its service history to see if things like the timing belt have been changed. My local dealer would only give info on warranty work that was done, which does not include any recent (paid for by owner work). I am skeptical that the dealership is not being completely forthcoming here, thinking that I would just have the belt changed without knowing for sure if it needs to be. Are there other options for determining the overall service history of my A6?
Thanks...
