2002 a6 drivers door handle problem

Hi there, I have an a6 saloon and am having problems with drivers door exterior handle - it won't always open door - if I pull handle quickly it opens but definitely something wrong. Interior handle opens door fine. Any advice appreciated.

If it always opens with a sharp pull then the operating rod may be out of adjustment, it's worth checking this however it could also be a sign of the operating motor in the latch about to stop working.

Thanks for your reply - how do I check the rod adjustment ? do I need to take the door card off to do this ?

Yes remove the door card to inspect.
