Help-audi S6 Avant

I own a '95 S6 Avant with 200,000 miles. Recently i've heard a "ticking" noise from hign in the engine. I thought it was the hydraulic lifters. The noise frequency increases with RPM's. I brought it to my experienced mechanic. He probed the sound and informed me it wasn't the lifters, but it was the injectors. He said it isn't detrimental to the motor and he wouldn't "worry about it". Is this a common noise with these stock injectors? What has been your experience and what can i do about it.
