My 1995 A6 keep losing power, almost zero revs and my foot is to the floor, then I will shoot forwards when my power comes back, also the car judders somtimes. The power loss seems to be worse for the first 10 min of driving. anyone any ideas what it could be

HI there, noted with initerest your post, and am having the same problem with my "N" reg A6. In 4th and 5th gear there seems to be a rev limiter effect that cuts the power at about 2,800 revs in warm weather and 3,000 revs in damp/cold weather.
The other day coming home it lost all of its power and then shot off like you described, but the morning after it would not start and has been at the garage since and they are now lost for ideas having checked the obvious usual culprits. Did you get sorted and was it something simple that you can share?? I hope so as i am at my wits end now trying to sort it out! Steve |

Hi Guys. I'm new to the forum but have found some interesting things. I have a 99 A6 which i love and recently had the same problem. Unfortunately my problem lay with the air regulator, which had to be replaced, at a bit of a cost, but could be done as DIY with a bit of patience! I also changed all air filters as a precaution. Hope this helps?

Now mi battery keeps going down !!! Bloody car, it drops to around 12 when running, and sometimes it drops to around 8 when engine not running, so Im goinf to change the distributer, air filter, maybe the carb, and im gonna get the altenator looked at. When it goes its great.

Have you replace fuel filter? Power loss from filter can be subtle until water permeates filter and clogs it. If you live in humid climate fuel can get water in it while in the tanks where you fuel going directly into your tank. Change this and you may be on your way.
