A4 Low Oil Light On But Oil Is Full

I have a 2000 a4 which has a faulty oil sensor, as a result of this i ended up with a big red "low oil" indicator coming on. I filled up with oil straight away and the car ran fine for a while but the light has come back on and now the car sounds like a diesel and the turbo sounds like its screeching.
I had this problem once before and it sorted itself out. Does it take a while for the engine management to reset itself or is the car knackered?? Any help would be appreciated thanks
