Jaimeson, I did sign up for that scaudi site, I'll have to look for your thread.
Oh BTW in response to one of your comments in another thread, my Audi is actually Taupe (I think thats what they called it), a really light goldish color. It does look silver in the picture I have though. I wish it was silver, but when you're on budget, color is secondary! :P
I have just join this forum and I am also crazy about Used cars
Welcome, did you stop in the welcome area? What kind of used cars are you "crazy about"?

Hi mate,
dont know if you bought it yet but my N reg A4 1.8 had a suspension problem and so has my 2000 1.9 tdi. according to the vag dealer it is a problem with the design on the early A4 about when they get to 80k & miles this wasnt so bad as they did it under an audi recall for the fault, the only thing is the same thing has happened on my w reg tdi and it appears that they think theyve cured the problem but havnt, hence no recall and bill for about £500 quid.
That said still a great car.

Exactly what kind of problem was it? I am at 84K miles and seem to be good to go so far.
sorry mate been off for couple of days
the recall problem was link arm bushs to do with the suspension on the old A4,the wife took the w reg to have service and otherstuff done and she was under the impression that the other stuff was the recall stuff as on the old A4 to find out what the problem actually was, i looked up the invoice, the bits done were brake discs, pads, pipes and a c v joint and scheduled service. Normal wear and tear stuff.
please accept my apology for inadvertantly giving you incorrect info
Alf
Cheers, the A4 is right as ninepence and going well, the coupe is coming along
have had a quick look at brakes and they seem to be working a little bit so i figure it needs new fluid and a couple of new brake pipes, the exhaust needs replacing though,at the moment it sounds like a boy racer machine(all blow and no go). Will get some photos up on the forum when i get the chance to sort out how to do em
Alf
Hi mate sorry to take so long, have sorted brakes cleaned out old fluid put new in, bled them up and away to go,new problem though the radiator has developed a big leak so have had to buy new one, got delivered today, so will be sorting that in the next few days.
got photos done just need to load em up
I am a fan of Audi and planning to buy a X Reg (2000) - Audi A4 1.8 SE (Petrol) car, Automatic.
This car has full service history but it has done around 115,000 miles.
From talking with people in general, I have been told that used cars with Petrol engines should not have done more than 40-50K miles.
I would like to know your side of the story and suggestions / tips on what I should look for in the car.
Thank you very much
I have had nothing but trouble with my audi never would i buy another, engine blew out at 47000 miles luckly it was still under warranty but always till this day trouble....
