Default 2004 Audi A4 Window Problem

A few weeks ago my driver side window started making a grinding noise every time it was put up or down then a week or two after the grinding started the window does not move and only makes a very small grinding noise. does anyone know what would cause this or does anyone know how to take a 2004 Audi A4 door off to look and see?

I also had the same problem with my 04 AUdi A4. Turned out to be the regulator also. i got the part from the dealer for 157.00 and had a Euro Car Repair Place install it for $100!

Good Luck

Default question for Panamared

Are you reffering to the EuroCars from Tallahassee? I have the same problem with my 2001 Audi. I can buy the part but need someone to fix it for me.

I had the same problem with my 04 S4, took it back to the dealer as it had only done 60K and was out of warranty, they replaced it no charge as i told told them i was very unhappy and would not pay due to the low usage of the vehicle. it seems to be a common problem and should not happen!! push your audi dealer for help.

Same problem here... How hard is it to replace this regulator? Anyone has any instructions or pictures?
Thanks a lot...

Default Green Plastic

There is a small chunk of green plastic that holds a small cylinder shaped piece of metal on the wire that runs your window up and down. What happened to my car is the cylinder broke through that plastic and when you roll down it still pulls but because the cylinder is above the plastic has nothing to grab when you try to roll it up.

I did a lot of search before being a member here but this is a good DIY that I used to fix my rear window so I did not have to replace the entire regulator. It even has some pictures to help you through. I did not cut my door though. There is plenty of room to do this w/out taking snips to your metal. Takes about an hour, dont be afraid to pull your panel... give it some effort and it will come off.

BTW, make sure you glue the piss out of it w/epoxy and let it dry ALL night long. If you don't, you will end up replacing it the next time your friends SLAM your door! ugh people never listen when you say gently close!
