Unhappy 2001 s4 transmission

anyone know the best and cheapest way to rebuild your tranny, i not sure whats wrong with it but it dont feel right. to go from first to second is a challenge and to go from 2nd to 3rd is the same thing. some times it will pop right out of first gear. i called audi and they said to get a new tranny put in with labour is gonna cost $10.000.00, and i just dont have that kind of money. any help would be awesome...

the s4 transmission has a tendency to loose the syncros in first and second gear .I bet thats what's wrong. You should find a tuning shop because there is a mod that can fix the problem from reoccurring, or just bring it to the dealer. 10k is ridiculous, you could get a whole tranny rebuild for less and it would be better.

Yes, I had the same thing happen to me. It stumped every shop and then i took it to my tuning shop and they figured out it was a blown pressure plate spring. I just replaced the pressure plate - $1600. And to let you know it'll happen again, once mine went away for a week then came back.

see it will go away sometimes, when it goes away don't drive the car aggressively or pull high g turns that usually brought it back for me.
