i booked an apointment with audi to take a look at the tranny next week... then i think iam going to buy a rebuild kit and try to do the work my slef... is it good to do it that way or should i just have them fix it and just bite the bullet?

Audi will prob not even address the actual problem and just replace everything. I'd say first bring it to them and tell them to look at it and find the problem. If they throw ridiculous stuff at you, if you know what you are doing, rebuild. But from what you say it is EXACTLY what I had (pressure plate failure).
