I have a '99 A4 1.8T. The radio has several problems. How do I remove the trim bezel surrounding the radio without damaging it? I'm guessing there some type of friction posts securing the panel, but do not want to risk just prying on it.
Also, any recommendations for stereo replacements? I'd like something that achieves a factory look, not the cheap looking wal-mart kind. Thanks for the help. |

![]() See the two little slots on the bottom, you need to get special tool that slides in there to release the unit.

i just replaced the radio in my a4 a few days ago, if u open the ash tray u can lift the trim up from there, its held in by a few clips but they shouldn't break, you just need to use a little force to get them off. with that off once u unlock the radio its easier to pull it out since the radio isn't that big all the way through u can use the lips on either side as handles to help pull it out. and btw, after about 3 hours on my radio, then 5 hours on my subs, my rear speakers didn't work, i found there's a separate wiring harness that you need along with the normal 2 plug one. well i had the concert audio thing in mine, idk if its any different with the Bose system. just throwing that out there if your rear speakers dont work and your cant figure out why. heres a picture i took of my factory radio to show u what i mean.
the square in RED is your normal 2 plug wiring harness, but the square in BLACK is where your rear speakers are. |
