I just bought my first2004 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. Everything was great for a week, but now the air conditioner will not switch on. It is always stuck on ECONO no matter what I adjust the temp to. I have the dual zone digital temp controls. I have it off then adjust the temp to say 64, Econo come on and will not turn off. i push the econo button and it should switch off but it won't. Any advice to this issue?
The next problem is a rattle that sound like its comming from the timing belt pulleys. It doesn't happen at idle, only when revving or in gear and driving. It started at the exact same time the air conditioner stopped working, related? Please help, it only has 48k on it and I wouldn't expect such problems at this mileage. ![]() |

The condenser pulley blew up and cracked the ac line. All the refrigerant leaked out and the rattle is the pieces of the pulley cover clanging around. Just thought I'd let you all know incase this happens to you! Need a new condenser!
