Audi A4 1995 model 1.8 dont idle

I am sitting resently with a problem with idile on the a4
I am in south africa and weather conditions are fine so a lot of time if i want to start the car it start but then suddenly the refs drop and it die and i must try and start again , after sometimes 7 times or more the car start and then its fine.
I cleaned the airflow meter because somebody said thats the problem but with no effect.
Is there maybe somebody that had the same problem an can maybe help me.
