Default a4 alarm going off randomly

I have a 1998 A4 2.8 quattro. I have owned the car for about nine months.

This problem is new: The alarm (horn and lights) has started going off at random in the parking lot. It stops after a few minutes. This happened once today even after I unlocked the car to try and stop it. This began after warmer temps (not really hot here yet) in southern TN. Any suggestions, please? Thank you.

This happened to me one - really embarrassing. It was a while ago in my 98 BMW 525; problem turned out to be the alternator was bad and needed to be replaced

This seems to only happen at work...I'm starting to think it is caused by some stray radio signal in the area.

Default Audi Alarm Goin Haywire

This happened to me also. I tried forever to figure it out. It seemed like whenever i left any windows down at all the alarm would go off at random all day. Whenever it was shut up tight i did not have this problem. I reluctantly went to my local audi dealer and the tech told me that this is because there is small sensors on the top of side pillars right around your head that detect any motion or even wind can set it off. He also told me he could hook up to his com unit and adjust the sensitivity, but could not turn it off completely so i had him adjust the setting in comp for me. He said the only way to turn the sensors off is a small button around bottom of drivers seat but u have to push it every time you arm the car. Anyway, i'm not sure if your problem is the same but my alarm doesn't go off at random any more.

reddog, good look on the little sensors. i never noticed them but i have tried keeping my windows shut during the day and even though it gets hot a balls in the car, my alarm has yet to trigger since then. im about to invest in a vag com.

only happens to me when i leave a window open, if you have a window open, theres a button on the drivers side to bypass it, u need to have the key in the ignition on acc and a door open to turn it on, its easier to get to from the back seats

Also close the vents as wind can be pushed through them if windy.
