Default Car stolen and recovered, what do you think about this....

On Thursday night I was burgled, house turned over laptop car etc etc.

Now the police have found the car 500 meters from my house, however the car (A4 1.9 TDI 54 Reg) was always 100% reliable. When recovered the recovery people say that it has engine problems, turning over really slowly. I asked if it could just be a flat battery and they say NO, definiately engine problems.

It had a cam belt done in Sept last year, so don't think it is that, regularly serviced.

It was stolen at night, could it simply be they left the lights on, or would they switch off after a while, i know the interior light does. They did have the key.

Any ideas ???

Put the Battery on charge and see what happens or swap the battery out.

Cheers, it is with the recovery people and going to nationwide crash repairs on Tuesday, so will see then what the damage is. I personnally would go with the flat battery.

Would a turbo blow, if taken from cold too 'drive it like you stole it'

You will need to change every thing which wont be cheap as the barrel will need changing.

As for Turbo blown it is unlikly they could kill the turbo after one night of abuse.

Your insurance company should cover any replacement costs as new locks etc are not cheap !!

I have spoken to nationwide, they think it is a straight flat battery.

They reconditioning all the wheels due to 3 of them being scratched.
Replacing and painting front and rear bumpers
Some scratch marks down the side to be 'done'
Going to Audi for locks to be replaced and new keys programmed.
4 wheel wheel alignment.

hopefully that should be it
