Default Engine Problems?

I'm considering buying a 2004 a4 1.8T quattro, but I have heard rumours about the 1.8T having problems with engine failure.

Any thoughts on this / anything else that might go wrong?.

Providing the engine has been serviced regally you should have no problems as this engine is basically the same as the Golf 1.8T and you hear very little issue with them.

Key is Service history if it does not have one and the car looks some what tatty then I would not touch it unless you know what you are doing with these cars.
