Alright, I am currently in Iraq and have been financially liberated by being dumped by my fiance while here. But this isn't about her. This is about all the money I am saving to fix my 01 A4 1.8T.
I have a few issues with the car. 1. I think that when I installed a double din dvd player it broke the K-line switch and has caused my check engine light to stay on and causes my car to be unable to be hooked up to a Diagnostic machine so that I can get it inspected. I was wondering how much that costs to fix? 2. I want to replace the factory speakers in the door and the back panel but cannot find any speakers that fit in the door. I was wondering if anyone knew of where I could find speakers for my car and how much it would cost to get them installed. I have subs already installed, I just want to replace the speakers. They are not the Bose edition. 3. What type of chip should I buy for my baby? I know this email is all over the place and I am sorry. I just have nowhere else to go to get answers. |

sorry about the news, and i can only give advice with the speakers as i am doing the same thing on my 2.8...with the bose edition you can NOT just replace the speakers. you will need new components in the front, i reccomend JL Audio TR model, and for the back another pair of the TR's. you will also have to buy a new amp for those lovely little things because the factory amp will not work. i would suggest a 500w amp. to integrate your subwoofers, you will need another amp for those, depending on size and capacity of subs i would go with at least 1000w, maybe 1200w. youll also have to put 2 RCA's in the car. dynamat is an extra option, but always a good one. depending on where you go to get it done, and the people you know, youre probably looking in the neighborhood of 13 - 1500 dollars everything installed. hope it helps, good luck.

My car does not have the Bose edition in them and I already have two JL W3 10's in the back running off of a 1000w Kenwood amp. But you say that the JL component speakers will fit in my car? I was hoping I could put JL's throughout because I absolutely love my subs. Now as far as sizes for the speakers you would'nt happen to know what size speakers I need?

that changes my info because i have the BOSE system in there already. im not completely sure if it is the same speaker arrangement for your car, but as i have been told, YES, components will fit, because as it is (for my case) i already have them in there. if your car has a speaker grill by the door handle, and one by the floor board, you can put components in there. i believe the speakers are the same size all the way around at 6". not positive though. theoretically, a well experienced installation tech could put any size speaker in there, but i belioeve those are for factory mounts. once again, i dont mean to steer you in the wrong direction or give you false info, im basing this off of my car stereo setup.
