Unhappy Locked out of stereo . . .

&I mean locked out of being even able to enter a number which I now have.
I own a full version of VAG-COM. Is there a way of returning the unit to allow me to enter my code/out of safe mode? It's saying "unit locked" and I cannot do anything with the input dials etc.
I read a post about inputing codes via VAG-COM for changing how your alarm systm works etc but i was hoping I could reset the radio without having to do anything with the alarm system.
Please note again, I do a have my code for the stereo. Someone else tried to enter a code without realising it gets locked after only 2 attempts.
oh it's an RNS 5.1 navigation Plus system
Any help would be great
dave.

You may need to leave the car switched on for an hour to reset the head unit so you can start again but have a look here for more info.

HI there.
I had looked at a couple of messages about pressing certain buttons in a particular order but these post referred to a different model. It just says Unit locked, even when I've been driving for over an hour and turn it on again.
I can access the radio via VAG-COM and if I press the the reprogam button I get a couple of numbers already listed in the interface that read 00017 & 63351. Are these correct for my unit and will using these values simply reset the unit so i can start again?
Cheers
Dave.

have you tried contacting audi? i had that problem with my stereo, and i was told you need to bring it to the dealer so they can get the VIN, and the code off the radio and send it to audi to have them send over the unlock code for it. or...buy a new stereo system.

Thanks Docerley
Switching the stereo on for 1 hour unlocked the stereo. I was able to input my code from there.
Thanks.
Dave
