Default A4 - Windshield wipers out of service

My wifes 2004 - A4 wipers slowed yesterday to a crawl, and then today shut down. I'm about to try and diagnose. Any starting points you folks can help me with? It looks like they at least jump a 1/2 inch or so when they're swtched on, so after the fuses, I'll start with connections. Thanks!

My wife's 98 became sluggish and I brought it to the shop and what they said was that the wiper shafts become dry and the grinding begins to jam the posts. What they did was pull the wiper arm off and then drill a small hole on the side of the post to the joint and sprayed in wd40. Once it started to get loose, they sprayed in a liquid lithium grease. This seemed to work. So now it is possible to lubricate the wiper arms Better than before.
