Hi few new Q's from a newbie

Hi, im Craig and i have just bought a 1996 P 2.6 V6. I have a few questions to ask. First after a few hours the air bag light came on but only after i had moved the seat and steering wheel. It goes out after about 60 secs but was wondering what it will cost to have it reset.

Second. The inspection/service bit is flasihing when i first start the car for a few secs but before this it was flasing OIL. Ive checked the oil and its fine. Can anyone explain? i dont have the book for the car.

Also what is the little button hidden down the right hand side of the drivers seat do? when i press it the fog light switch light comes on but the fogs lights them selfs stay off. Any ideas?

The air bag light was probably caused by the plug under the seat shorting quite common so check the plugs out and make sure they connect correctly. The only way to clear the fault is to get someone to VAGCOM the and clear all faults.


Not sure what’s causing the oil light possibly a sensor but to clear the service light I think you may need VAG again although later cars can reset it via the clock odometer stalk.

The button is to turn off the sensors in the car.
