Hi Guys/Gals,
I'm brand new to the boards so go easy :-P Time to renew my company car and i have hundreds of choices, i've managed to narrow these down to 4 different Audi A4s (always liked them). Really just looking for some advice (pros/cons, etc) of each option: 1. Audi A4 Saloon 1.9TDi SE 2. Audi A4 Saloon 1.9TDi S-Line 3. Audi A4 Saloon 2.0 SE 4. Audi A4 Saloon 2.0 S-Line I'm also slightly concerned that now in the UK when you buy the S-line model, they come with 18inch alloys, i've had cars on 18s before and they've always 'tramlined' alot (following banding on the road etc), i would like to hear from anyone who has the 18incher S-line and see if they suffer the same problem. Thanks, Ben |

I have had 2 of these models and can say the following :- The 1.9 TDI is more economical by far than the 2.0 TDI but slightly more agricultural. Stear clear of the S-Line if your local roads are anything less than 'peach smooth'.
All round the SE spec is best I think, you get cruise control as standard with this if that is important to you. |

You can chip the TDI but not the 2.0

I have 18" alloys on my A4 and they dont tram line at all !!
I think sometimes cars tramline due to what type of tyre tread they are using and have experienced this before on different cars but not once on the Audi ..

On the S-Line there is a no cost option to downgrade to 17".
Also with 18" tyres, most of the problems people encounter has more to do with tyres not being inflated to the right pressure than anything else. If you get 18" wheels (Looks much better on the car) make sure you check the tyre pressure weekly. |

I just realised, the 2.0 A4's are petrol not diesel, so given you are not particularly interested in economy, I would still go for the 1.9 TDi as it should make the 2.0 non-turbo petrol seem a bit weedy by comparison. However, if you do a lot of urban stop-start driving, I would go for the petrol.

Hey Ben,
I've had my first diesel company car this year and the best benefit I've found in comparison to petrol is less time wasted at the pumps filling up. I spend a lot less time in the cold/wet/wind filing the diesel Passat than I did with any petrol company car. I filled up last night and I'll do about 560 miles on that tank (some urban, some motorway) whereas previous petrol cars with the same 2 litre engine did just over half that. In our time-short society every minute saved at the pumps is a minute down the pub! |
