i was preparing for a long trip and filled tank up with 40 ltrs of petrol instead of derv. anyone had similar experience, and is this going to cost me a fortune? A4 2.5 tdi 2004 in warrenty.

O poo,it will cost you 2 hours labour and new fuel filter.Complete drain off and replace the fuel filter then brim the tank with diesel.This can invalidate your warranty as it isnt good news for the engine when petrol is mixed but only in extreme cases can engine damage occur.Your audi dealer may make a note of the contaimination for future warranty claims.Loads of people do this even i have bloody done it .Regards Jon

so far so good, recovery on its way, local audi says he should be able to do the job,no cost mentioned yet! will keep you posted

Providing you did not start the car you should be good and will only need the tank drained.
