Hi there,
I have a '03 A4 Saloon. All was fine till last week when the yellow "Check Oil level Sensor" message appeared. Had trouble opening bonnet but finally got it opened. Checked oil level. All fine there. The warning msg came on again and now I cannot open the bonnet. When I pull the lever in the doorwell it "clicks" it's like its not catching the pully lever for the bonnet. Have tried getting someone to push down on the bonnet while I pull the lever but no joy... Any help out there ? P.S. Only had car less than a month so is there a strange nak to open Audi bonnets ??? Cheers |

Try to raise the car so you can remove the undertray.Look for the cable from the under side near the drivers side headlight. If your lucky the cable is still connected at the front lock carrier.Pull on the cble and iy should open,if the cable comes away take it to a garage and ask them to do it as you will struggle on the floor to do this.Regards Jon

Got sorted with the bonnet. Turned out the release catch was loose. All ok there now.
Still have the "Check Oil Sensor" yellow light on though. Checked oil level via dipstick and there is plenty of oil. Above half way. Don't fancy paying an Audi dealer a couple of hundred for this as it's prob something still, any ideas anyone ? Tried the tip of engine on, open/close bonnet and key out for 60secs... No joy... Any other methods ? Cheers |

The oil sensor has three wires.Ignition live, earth and the signal to the dash.If you have 12 volts and earth then i think you may need to scope the signal wire.if there is no high resistance or shorts to posotive/earth i would disconnect the dash insert and the sensor overnight and retry. The bonnet switch signals to the convience control unit.Any way thats enough of that twaddle.disconnect the dash and the sender and see what happens. You could disconnect the battery but you will lose your radio code and engine basic settings and remote fob memory. They are a pain in the arse but vag com would help to establish if the bonnet is closed and any codes in the dash or engine control unit.
