Hi do you mean the old style 'Fob' shaped remote, or the later type flip key?
Is your car on the early type central locking with a control box under rear seat bench + a vacuum pump in trunk. Or the later type, with just a vacuum pump in the trunk. What is the part number on the bottom of the central locking vacuum pump? If you have the 95-97 keyless entry type, this may be the 3 button part number: FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 4 CANADA: 2674102293 If you have the 97-01 type keyless entry this should be the correct 2 button flip key: FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 4 CANADA: 2674 102 666 VDO Part No: 4D0 837 231 D Last edited by ini : 04-21-2007 at 10:40 AM. |

If only the drivers door locks & alarm arms when you lock the car, try turning the key in drivers door to the lock position and back twice and see if everything locks at once.
If it does, you can enable 'one touch' locking/unlocking of all doors & boot by altering the central locking soft-code number with vag-com. The central locking options that can be enabled/disabled with vag-com on your car are: +64 Windows up, sunroof close, and windows down with remote. -04 One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk -1024 Remove horn honk when arming +32 Auto lock/unlock of doors (Doors lock at 15 mph and unlock when key is removed) |

VAG-COM is software made by www.Rosstech.com that allows you to view and alter the cars software & view and reset error codes, just like a main dealer can. It allows various features to be enabled/disabled.
I mainly use mine to alter the advanced central locking options. You have to connect your PC or Laptop to your car with an special cable (available on ebay for around £8). There are other similar bits of software available, that will perform the same function. Last edited by ini : 04-21-2007 at 12:01 PM. |

ok, the trick with the key didn't work, i seem to think that i have the 'workshop' key from looking in the manual.
How can i establish i have central locking, are there any clues? I would love to get it sorted, and buy a key fob from ebay. Does anyone in lincolnshire have a vag-com? I have looked at the site and can't see really what it means. Please advise KEV |

If you have a 'central locking' control unit under your rear seat bench, like this:
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/pix/remotetop.jpg You have central locking. You could also check for black bubble shaped 'IR' recievers on your 'B' pillars, which would indicate the older IR keyless entry. |
