I have a 2002, 3.0 Quattro A4 which I bought second hand.
I recently complained about my gearbox making a "clunking" noise when I changed down abruptly. I use a specialist as opposed to Audi direct, who advised me it was the gearbox mounting which was non-existent!!. They ordered a new part from Audi direct who sent out the wrong mounting. This happenned again a second time. Ultimately, Audi came out to look at my car and said that the gearbox was from a 1990 Audi 100. They said it would not affect the performance of the car, but that was the reason for the wrong part being sent out. I was naturally disppointed to hear this, but accepted it as the truth nevertheless. However, I am not sure whether a 6 speed 1990 Audi 100 even existed. I am beginning to think that mayve Audi used this as an excuse to cover their mistake in sending out the worng part 2 times running - especially as they said that this wouldnt effect the performance - who am I to know?!? Could anyone confirm if there was a 6 speed model of the Audi 100 in 1990? Many thanks! |

Get the gear box part number and then ring Audi to ask what gear box it is for or post it up and I will try and track down the part.
