Default Audi 100 gearbox in an A4?

I have a 2002, 3.0 Quattro A4 which I bought second hand.

I recently complained about my gearbox making a "clunking" noise when I changed down abruptly.

I use a specialist as opposed to Audi direct, who advised me it was the gearbox mounting which was non-existent!!.

They ordered a new part from Audi direct who sent out the wrong mounting. This happenned again a second time. Ultimately, Audi came out to look at my car and said that the gearbox was from a 1990 Audi 100. They said it would not affect the performance of the car, but that was the reason for the wrong part being sent out.

I was naturally disppointed to hear this, but accepted it as the truth nevertheless. However, I am not sure whether a 6 speed 1990 Audi 100 even existed. I am beginning to think that mayve Audi used this as an excuse to cover their mistake in sending out the worng part 2 times running - especially as they said that this wouldnt effect the performance - who am I to know?!?

Could anyone confirm if there was a 6 speed model of the Audi 100 in 1990?

Many thanks!

Default

Get the gear box part number and then ring Audi to ask what gear box it is for or post it up and I will try and track down the part.
