Default A4 Heater Matrix

AAARRHH!! £900 rough quote to have the leaking heater matrix replaced, and thats from the garages that didn't decline to quote!!
One garage suggested doing it myself from the Haynes manual. Does anyone have any suggestions? The car is a 1997 P reg 1.9 TDI and has done 202,000 miles. I love the car to bits and will do all that I can to keep it.

Thanks

Ben

Damn thats rough mate..

I take it its the labour costs involved to replace it that costs so much ?

You can pick the matrix up for about £100 off Ebay if it helps eBay.co.uk: AUDI A4 & A4Q 1995-01 HEATER MATRIX (item 130030214879 end time 21-Dec-06 13:05:51 GMT)
