Default 1999 A6 Bose amp, where is it?

I am installing an aftermarket headunit in my '99 A6 Quatro. At first everything seemed go fine. I had the music coming off of speakers through the supposedly existing Bose amp. However, during my final push to have the headunit flush, I must have shorted one of the wires (perhaps the trigger to the amp) as I have no sound now. I have the headunit on, but no sound comes from the speakers. I even wired back the older aftermarket unit that was previouisly wired with the amp trigger switch, but no sound still.

First, does anyone know where the amp is? It is not in the trunk, at least not where I can see it. Second, is there any other possible explanation to this problem other than a short in the trigger wire somewhere? All the fuses are fine, and the players play fine, just no sound...

thanks in advance.

Default Amp location

On my 2000 A6 2.7t, the amp is over the right rear wheel well. It is mounted on the sub woofer box. You have to remove the paneling to see it.

There are pictures in the PDF's found at: NSX JR's Audi Audio
