So i bought it, the only thing im happy about is the sound quality! The guy at the Audi told me that i can controll the iPod but i cant!!

Ask the Audi guy to print off the instructions for the operation off of Audi desktop, they are a bit clearer. the best way I have found is to create 5 different play lists on your ipod which can be controlled on the set as disc 1 to 5 if that makes sense!

No, it's a health and safety issue, Audi don't want you to crash whilst selecting a track on your Ipod.

You need a Dension interface that has the 6th playlist unlocked so you can access the Ipod.

Audi have recently released for ordering as an option an aux input where you can plug in your iPod via the headphone socket. If this becomes a retrofit item in the future I don't know.

So i got an idea what do you guys think ;

when you pull out the ipod dock cable just the slightest bit (so that the left side of the ipod is in and the right side is out.. then you can control the IPOD and the signal is still being sent to the radio!!!

Now that leaves me to believe, that if i disconnect one of the cables that goes to the dock (the one that controls the ipod via the radio controls) then it wont lock the ipod and it will still send the audio through the speakers!!

The only issue will be that the radio controls will not work anymore.

Now im just looking for dock cables and the minidin cable so that i can make my own, experiment with the conncetions and find out which one controls the ipod so that i can leave it disconnected!

what do u guys think about this idea?

Oh and Craig, wow thats very interesting! 6th playlist unlocked.. so that sounds like a firmware/software difference.. Is the really no possible way to update/change it manually? i think the problem is im the only one thats actually bothered :P (i like perfection and having things run the way i want them to :P)

edit: spelling

Hi Mate, Did you find a way to control the ipod without disconnecting it? this is really annoying isn't? I've tried to find cables, adapters to use the 3.5mm jack but I couldn't find anything.
