Help - replaced concert stereo with Bose version

I've just replaced my non BOSE concert stereo on my 2000 TT with a BOSE version. Was told by Audi that this would be a straight forward swap over. I do not have BOSE speakers / amp. I've noted that when using the fader I have only sound from rear speakers and not from the front.
Is there a setting for this or a compatibilty issue (ld stereo worked fine but was replaced due to backlight problem)?

All radios are BOSE/NON BOSE, it's just a case of recoding the radio for NON BOSE and it will work. It is the car that is BOSE not the radio.

Thanks, assume you need VAG COM to do this coding and it's not something you can do yourself?
