1999 A6 No Front Audio - Help

Hello,

I am new here, registered to get help for my girlfriend.

She has a 99' A6, and about last summer, the front speakers both went dead. Currently, only the rear speakers work, but all they pump out is bass, no mids or anything of the sort.

Someone at her work told her that her Audi has TWO amplifiers, one for the fronts, and one for the backs. I know quite a bit about audio, but not about Audi's.

Are there really two amps?

The headunit works fine, and I checked the front speakers, and they work fine as well.

I'm thinking that it's the amp, but is it possible for the fronts to go without the rears? Or does the amp only power the rears for bass, and the fronts powered by head unit?

ANY input would be great. I'd really like to get this fixed for her. Thanks in advance!
