I'm not trying to start another thread but I am curious about what being used. I have a 2011 A6 3.0t and I always used Castrol 5w-40 in my old Passat. I can only seem to find 0w-40 in Castrol and Mobil1 and 5w-40 in Valvoline. All three oil meets the VW specs and I will be using a Manns filter. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

I use 0-40 in my 3.2 A6 and only Mobil 1, which I've used for years. I have a 97 SAAB 900 too and have seen the engine internals on a few occasions and have always been surprised at the lack of deposits/sludge. Did the cam cover gaskets on the Audi this summer and things were clean in there too. Any good quality synthetic would prob have the same results, I think.
